We understand the unique challenges faced by military spouses who are separated from their loved ones. That’s why we offer travel grants to help you reconnect without the worry of financial strain. Whether it’s for a special occasion, a much-needed weekend together, or simply to share a meal, we’re here to try and make it possible. Applying for a grant is straightforward and designed to get you back to what matters most, being together.

APPLICATIONS

Family in Flight offers travel grants to help reunite military families who are living apart due to service commitments. Eligible applicants can receive financial assistance for travel expenses such as flights, gas, train, or bus tickets. Applications are reviewed by our review board members, and funds are awarded based on need and available resources. Please note, you will need to book your travel prior to receiving the funds. This ensures that the funding is going to the trips applied for. Apply today and take the next step toward being together.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

Before applying, ensure you meet the eligibility requirements:

You are a spouse/partner of an active-duty, reserve, or National Guard service member.
Your loved one is stationed away from home and you are currently geo-baching.
You have not received a travel grant from us in the past 12 months.

Small Step 2: Complete the Online Application Form

Fill out our online application form, providing necessary details such as:

Your personal information and contact details
Service member's details, including current duty station
Reason for travel, preferred travel dates, and mode of transport

Step 3: Submit Supporting Documents

Upload any required documents directly with the application. This includes but is not limited to proof of relationship, military orders, and a brief statement explaining your need for the travel grant.

Step 4: Review by the Board

Once your application is submitted, our review board will evaluate based on eligibility and availability of funds. This process may take 2 weeks, so please apply in advance of your intended travel date.

Please note: you will need to submit receipts in order to receive funding.

I applied, now what?

In roughly 2 weeks, you will receive an email notifying you of the board’s decision on your application. If approved, you will be provided with details about the grant amount and the next steps to use the grant to reconnect with your loved one, knowing that your community is here to support you every step of the way.
